Latest Updates from Our Project:

December 2nd Progress Update

Hello Backers,

Since it has been a month since the last update, I would like to share where things stand with the project.

First off, I received the funds from Kickstarter around the second week of November. I want to thank you again for that - it will help pay for the print run I’m ordering from LongPack Games. The other news is that Lamberto and I have been finishing up the artwork and graphic design of the printed components:

Main Board - The artwork and graphics are complete, with Lamberto making a couple of artist embellishments.  First, the titles for the board zones are now depicted as scrolls instead of plain text, and the icons for the carver and turner were changed to make them distinct (the tools they used were very similar). Below is the final look of the Guildhall area of the board:

Player Boards - The front sides are complete, with a few enhancements made.  First, the tracking cubes will now move up the board, rather than down (as you level up the craftsmen’s skills from apprentice to master!) Secondly, prestige points have been added to the squares to remind players of the point value for journeymen and masters. Third, text has been added along the sides of the board to show where incomplete and completed project cards should be placed. Below is the redesigned player board.

Lamberto began working on the signs on the rear of the player boards yesterday, and I expect him to be done before the weekend. The names are a surprise I'm saving for publication.

Punch Boards - All are complete, with a little bit of exciting news to share. One of the backers suggested adding craftsmen tokens for each player to help keep track of their “uses”. You might recall that apprentices can work on only one project per round, whereas journeymen and masters can work on two and four, respectively. Because it is easy for new players to make mistakes around this rule, I’ve decided to implement the suggestion and add a fourth punchboard. It will have the 64 craftsmen tokens in the player colors, as well as six die face tokens for the solo game.  Here’s a look at that punchboard:

Cards - The game includes 72 furniture cards, 36 special cards, 6 starter cards, and the 16 bonus cards you unlocked! The artwork is complete for these, and Lamberto and I are finishing up the layouts and plan to be done by mid-December.

Rulebook - I've engaged the services of a technical writer who contacted me before the campaign, offering to help ensure the rules are written with as much clarity as possible.  I have already made the first round of revisions, and he is now doing another pass at the rulebook before the final layout is adjusted based on his recommendations. We plan to have that done by mid-December.

Neoprene Mat - I talked with LongPack about this and sent the specs to Lamberto earlier this evening so he can begin work on it.

Premium Currency - The layouts for the premium currency set will begin soon. It's not much work, comparatively speaking, so it will be finished by mid-December as well.

Game Box – I will begin updates to the rear of the box this weekend.  I had never intended to use the layout that was used for the demo copies, but I do not anticipate this taking much time.

In summary, we are pushing very hard to get everything done by Christmas, so I can send the files off to LongPack for review.

Thank you, everyone, and let me know if you have any questions!

Hi everyone!

Thank you so much for making Cabriole possible! The simple fact is this game wouldn't be possible without your support, so I'm ever grateful to each and every one of you!

You've done a fantastic job with your part and now I will be finishing mine! I couldn't be more excited that this game will become a reality and will be on your tables!

Also, in case you didn't notice, you unlocked the first of the two stretch goals. I personally enjoy playing with the bonus cards and I think you will too! As for the dual-layer player boards, I will let you know in a future update if I'm able to make them happen. I really do want you to have them!

Thank you again, everyone!

Doug
